Mayacamas Chardonnay 2020
MAYACAMAS CHARDONNAY 2020
Founded in 1889, Mayacamas stands as one of the most storied vineyard and winery operations in the history of American wine. For decades it has been a source of some of California’s most iconic and longest-lived bottles. The winery was named for the mountain range which divides the Napa and Sonoma Valleys and was built of stone into the side of a dormant volcano crater. This old stone winery has been in production ever since. Chardonnay is planted high on the slopes of Mount Veeder – ranging from 1,800 to 2,400 ft in elevation. 2019 shows volume, breadth and focus. Lovely ripe pear, pineapple and cantaloupe notes expand to secondary flavors of lemon, almond and chamomile with a long and lingering finish.
